Placerville Station 3 Remodel and New Training Facility
Telluride Fire Protection District is thrilled to present the following community improvement projects in Placerville including remodeling the existing Fire Station 3 in Placerville and adding a TFPD's first fire training facility. This website is meant to provide information and transparency as this project develops. Please attend community events listed below so you can meet the firefighters serving your community, ask questions and understand how your fire department is growing in order to better serve our communities emergency service needs. We will update information on this website as it becomes available.
This project is funded in combination by a grant for the training facility ($575,000) and our current operating budget. TFPD is able to propose a training facility and improved and expanded station facilities for our firefighters because our community has already supported us with a property tax increase. There is not a property tax increase or any other funding that is needed from the community to complete this project. We can't thank our community enough for supporting us and this project is a direct reflection of your support. Thank you for supporting your first responders!
Phase I of construction is the training facility. This project is grant funded and on a deadline which is why it's designated as Phase 1. The training facility has to be completed, on the ground and operational by August of 2027 in order to not forfeit the grant awarded to TFPD by Division of Fire Prevention and Control. Again, this project is funded by our current operational budget, a $575,000 grant and does not require any additional funding from our community. This will be TFPD's first and only training facility and we are excited to work with our neighboring agencies to help support training first responders in the surrounding rural areas. Phase II and III are the new apparatus bay construction and remodel of the current station. The Station 3 remodel projected construction timeline is by summer of 2028 for completion but as always, we hope to have it completed sooner so we can better protect our community with additional responders.
We are currently in the permitting phase and although we don't need financial support, we do need our communities verbal and written support. We'd appreciate your presence and support at events and county commissioners meetings.
